Time has never been on LHR’s side and doubt it will catch up with the market. LGW to get its 2nd RWY 1st (it already has more capacity/RWY and routes to more destinations) and even STN needs 2nd RWY and an additional terminal.
Only Conservative voters at both locations stop progress, while the current government (and the LHR operator) ignore the reality of some of the highest pollution levels in London and do nothing.
Ground Hog Day. This one just keeps on coming around, coming around, coming around, coming around….
Pollution can be attcked in differing ways.
One is to ensure that the aircraft that land and take off comply with minimum standards of noise and fume emissions.
Another is that ALL airside traffic(both vehicles used in the airpòrt as well as thoses that “visit” the airport) complies with minimum standards of noise and fume emissions.
Then it can be shown(as it was 10-15 years ago) that the biggest offender is road traffic not airplanes. This is mostly from the M4 and M25 as well as other heavy vehicles and buses. It is hipocritical to not see and then admit that. Then something major could be done to solve the problems.
