icenspiceParticipantIn November I was in New Orleans for 4 nights staying in a mid-range hotel. I think it was on the second night I had a sudden craving for chocolate just before going to bed. The fridge was not stocked and the vending machine on each floor only sold soft drinks.
I popped down to reception in my PJs and flip-flops to get a fix. The lovely receptionist told me the only place was at the the 24/7 convenience store and that no one would bat an eyelid just because I was in my comfy pjs…of that I have no doubt! !! Crossing a 6-lane expressway in flip-flops in the dark however was a recipe for disaster, I decided.
I returned to my room and went to the bathroom.
When I exit I have the shock of my life…there is a Mars Bar on the floor. I ask how on earth has someone entered my double-locked bedroom because I am often a bit slow lol. It is only a few minutes later I discover that there was a gap big enough to squeeze in a bar of chocolate.
I gobbled it down in seconds and immediately phoned reception to give them my sincere thanks. I think I passed out shortly after with jetlag and all that nonsense.
Just thought I would share and wish I could have told the story better.
Goodnight all

Charles-PParticipantI agree it is these small gestures that reinforce loyalty from a customer. I recently stayed at the Crowne Plaza in central Tel Aviv and saw the extra effort taken by a check in person to assist an elderly lady who was a little confused regarding her booking. It was done with discretion and patience and increased my liking for the hotel.

dodger10ParticipantIn my early days when i had just joined the workforce, I was working in a coffee/sandwich shop. I was the one that went the extra mile and made a good friend of a regular customer.
The regular customer came in for their lemon tea late morning as usual. But unfortunately the lemons didn’t arrive that morning, so we couldn’t serve the lemon tea. I was due on my lunch break, so I popped out to the nearby supermarket and bought some lemons, brought them back and asked the barista to serve the lemon tea. The customer was overwhelmed, and we have been friends ever since.
