goldaviatorParticipantFrom BA website. I am booked on LHR to GLA with Jettime in September. Cant imagine its any better or worse than BA on a domestic. Seat selection was the same with Gold Card.
“To support our larger summer schedule this year, between 27 March and 26 October 2016, the Danish airline Jet Time will be operating a small number of short-haul flights on behalf of British Airways.
We are working very closely with Jet Time to ensure that customers travelling on these routes receive the same standard of safety and quality of service that they would expect on a British Airways operated flight:
Same features as British Airways flights
If you’re travelling on a Jet Time service you’ll receive the same advantages that you’d be entitled to on a British Airways flight:the same baggage allowance according to your ticket
complimentary refreshments on board
Executive Club member benefits
British Airways lounge access, for eligible customers
check in on ba.com or with our British Airways teams at the airport
ability to pre-pay on ba.com for extra checked baggage or advance seating (if your ticket type doesn’t already offer this)
Your flight number and departure/arrival times haven’t changed, and your flight will continue to use Terminal 5 at Heathrow.Important note for wheelchair users:
If you are bringing your own wheelchair with you on your trip, the maximum dimensions permitted on board are slightly different to BA operated flights:Jet Time operated flights – max size (cm) : L:139, D:65, H:76
British Airways operated flights (domestic and European): max size (cm) : L:140, D:85, H:106″4 May 2016

This is also rather contradictory – leasing aircraft to cover the summer schedule and at the same time saying that leased aircraft will be returned sooner than expected because of too much capacity!
Maybe BA virtual is closer than people think, after all they could get rid of all those legacy crew and have everyone on terms that make Ryanair look generous.

openflyParticipantWillieWelsh….you are as cynical as myself!
But, if JetTime does prove to be cheaper for BA, this exercise might be the product for Gatwick. Rather than change to a Veuling operation, as is envisaged at LGW, JetTime may be even cheaper!! You heard it here first….:-) !

JordanDParticipantAs posted elsewhere online, this ‘extra’ capacity is partly due to Virgin handing back the remedy slots to BA (which Little Red operated), so BA had to ‘use them or lose them’ and to do so they brought in some Wet leased aircraft to operate for and on their behalf.

SimonS1Participant@WillieWelsh – I don’t see the inconsistency – maybe the plan is to use Jettime to cover the summer peaks and then reduce capacity in the winter season?
Also when WW was talking to analysts about taking planes off lease he was talking about Iberia and returning the s/h planes they use to service Luanda, Lagos, Accra and Istanbul. Plus it was only an option, not a firm decision.

prosbornParticipantLuanda service by Iberia needing planes?
I don’t think so. IB are dropping that route, sorry, suspending it, as per 01 June.
http://www.agenceecofin.com/entreprises/0505-37879-la-compagnie-aerienne-espagnole-iberia-suspend-ses-vols-sur-langola-des-le-1er-juinThe collapse of oil prices has provoked a sharp downturn in the Angolan economy, and IB is carrying far below its planned capacity of 3,000 pax per MONTH (edited!). I wonder what this means for the Portuguese economy, whose largest investor was Angola?
Anyway. By the way, for Africa airline buffs, the daily Ecofin site is a jewel, like on the ups and downs of Kenyan, Ethiopian/Asky …
I rarely read this part of the forum, so if you want me to see your feedback, pls just mail me.
