Heathrow the future for the UK?

Panda01ParticipantThere is new research that says that if Heathrow were to be expanded, the tickets would be lower, more reason to expand Heathrow. Or the government could expand Gatwick to two runway, Heathrow to three runway(maybe four) and build the Boris island airport with at least four runways and that would be the answer to the UK airport problem.

The proposed HS2 was originally supposed to include Heathrow on it’s route so that people from ‘up north’ could easily access Heathrow by public transport. This requirement has now been dropped, and replaced with a suggested station at Old Oak Common, to allow any ‘northerners’ to transfer to another train serving Heathrow, (see topic about HS2 in rail section)
This could maybe be because more people are now using regional airports to connect with long haul flights from AMS/FRA/CDG rather than use LHR. The thinking may be that expansion of regional airports, with more direct long haul flights, will lead to a further reduced demand for a direct northern rail link to LHR.

POLICY
TRANSPORT and not forgetting the last word …..
INTERGRATEDNow, rearrange those words into a sensible approach to managing movement of people!
Oh, and you’ll be hard pressed to find the word Urgency in their dictionary either.
Words that resonate with our folk entrusted to lead us to prosperity are committee, decision deferring, consultative process and of course ,customer synergy !
