A report in today’s Gulf News reveals that Emirates is about to announce a new luxury bedroom product on its A380 and on other selected aircraft.

It would seem that Emirates is emulating Etihad’s latest range of luxury onboard accommodations.

No indication yet of any timescale for the new product’s introduction. But quoted in the Gulf news, Shaikh Majid Al Mualla, a senior VP at Emirates, told the Gulf News that, as regards pricing, the new product would be “more commercially viable for passengers.”

According to a report today in the aviation website aerotelegraph.com it appears that the new product will be launched on the Dubai-London route.

That’s hardly a surprise. really, as London must be Emirates’ flagship destination.

No timescale of when the product will be launched are yet available.

Clearly there is a market for this from people in the ME or else they would not invest in it, right? and Emirates need to keep competitive with other Gulfies but you really do wonder at the costs of Etihad’s equivalent service how viable it has actually been for the airline?

Its such a short route to experience such a luxurious product.

I would of thought those purchasing tickets at this price would be better off with Net Jets or some other form or private aircraft rental or taking advantage or empty jets re positioning itself?

I’m sure they’ll find customers for these cabins, but personally I’d baulk at paying that sort of money though I’m happy to fork out for First. All you’re really getting on top of the First offering is a private room and personal one on one attention from a valet, but in all honesty I don’t need that, I’m just happy with the bigger seat and extra attention in a small cabin of usually 8 passengers.

Is it a gimmick or a real enhancement I don’t know and I wonder what the occupancy rates will be, but good luck to them anyway, at least it’s a real innovation in air travel.

P’S. I wonder if on an overbooked flight they’ll upgrade to the private cabin?

I agree LP, there will be plenty of emerati who would be happy to pay for the privacy cabins like this will offer.
