I live in Scottsdale, Arizona and the only international flight, not counting Canada and Mexico, is BA’s daily to Heathrow. The equipment is a very old and tired 747-400 with 2-4-2 seating in biz. I’d like to know what genius thought that anyone would like to fly sitting backwards by the window. with the screen down you are looking right into the face of the person next to you which is fine if you know them but very uncomfortable if you do not. Other than a bin to put your shoes in there is not one single place for storage. On top of that the video monitors are so old the picture is very grainy and skips constantly. On several flight it has been broken completely. Connecting out of Heathrow to any place on the continent Club Europe seating is identical to economy except the don’t sell the middle seat. No wonder the Middle East and Asian airlines are picking up so much business.

As rferguson said today on another thread BA flights to USA are running with loads of 80% plus so they must be doing something right.

I doubt the ME airlines are taking any USA business off BA.

Never forget you have a choice, even if it is an indirect flight on a US carrier.

I would agree that the 747 is getting a bit tired and the entertainment is somewhat limited. They made a mistake with the storage when they upgraded Club World.

Would agree with Simon the ME airlines are unlikely to be taking too much from BA on US routes and they still do very well out of the Middle East.

Sadly Club Europe is not what it was but BA are really only offering the same standard as other European airlines, certainly my travels on AF and KL reflect that.

Seems the cr*p hard product doesn’t deter passenger to fly BA (including me).

I do find the hard product very dated and uninspiring. I do not like facing backwards and I do not like having to step over a passenger legs when getting out of my seat…

    But… I do like

    1. the sleep I manage to get facing backwards

    2. the avios points and the ease I can use the in Europe

3.the crazy ex-Europe pricing, which I firmly believe means BA pay me to fly with them

    4. The superb lounges at Heathrow

    5. the route network

So its really is as we English say.. ‘Horses for courses’…..

The OP makes factual comments, which are fair comment.

The problem is, no other airline seems to want to fly from Phoenix, AZ, direct to Europe, so he must either accept the convenience or take an indirect route.

The ME airlines are taking quite a lot of potential business off BA in the USA. Why would one connect via London (with the need for a transit visa), when you could transit at DOH, DXB or AUH?

Think of communities withsubstantial Indian diasporas.

I think most of that business is long since gone.

I believe IAG passenger numbers to NA are increasing about 20% a year so they are likely picking up good numbers at the right price.

‘Long gone’ means lost a long time ago, but that isn’t so, the Indian diaspora are active travellers.

If you mean, unattainable, fair enough.
