WHAT’S IT LIKE? This is a unique retreat in the heart of bustling Bangkok. Occupying 7,000sqm, the facility consists of a free-form swimming pool, six Residential Spa Cottages, nine Treatment Bungalows, hair salon, nail bar and a spa with health and fitness studios.
WHERE IS IT? Located on the fifth level – following its mythical definition in Thai as the “fifth level of heaven”. The hotel itself is centrally located on Rajdamri Road.
My Spa Cottage was the second from the right as you approach the accommodation cluster, which is set at the far end of the swimming pool. The sixth unit is in a secluded spot for even more exclusivity.
ROOM FACILITIES Each cottage is 100sqm and features a bedroom, living room, spa treatment room, bathroom with oversized tub, wall-mounted TV, rain shower with steam, scrub table for body treatments and private outdoor patio. A yoga mat and YogaAway DVD are stored in the closet. While the windows lining the living room and spa room are narrow, I could still see the staff moving outside, which made me uncomfortable, unless the blinds were pulled down. The living room sofa and rocking chair with its woolly plaid rug invited one to lounge.
DINING The snacks are seriously irresistible: home-made rum raisin and chocolate chip cookies, two flavours of ice-cream, three types of juice, fresh milk, four cups of yoghurt and a daily fruit plate.
BUSINESS FACILITIES Wired and Wi-Fi services are available at THB717 (US$21.60) for 24 hours.
