Situated in the uber stylish Hyatt Centric Ginza Tokyo, Namiki667 is the hotel’s all-day signature restaurant. As soon as I enter the restaurant, I am impressed by its chic décor and large windows, which offer beautiful views of Ginza. I am dining at this restaurant, to enjoy its speciality cuisine of oven-based preparations. Sous-Chef Toru Hirakawa endorses slow cooking and places emphasis on seasonality. I opted for the Tokyo set menu, which started with an old favourite, pan-fried French foie gras, which was textured to perfection and complemented by the Tokyo milk foam. For mains, I enjoyed a roasted wild sea bream, which was served with Tokyo turnips to offset the taste and drizzled with brown butter and orange condiments.

The chef tells me that the main ingredients and condiments are all sourced from local producers in Tokyo, and this set the context for a great meal indeed.

For dessert, I ended my meal with a refreshing apple tart with Tokyo tea ice cream and orange relish. A perfect end!

Verdict: Namiki667’s stylish menu is a definite must-try if you enjoy local flavours in an international avatar.
