Yokohama Bay Sheraton Hotel’s Ko-No-Hana restaurant scores brownie points when it comes to serving Kaiseki, a traditional Japanese meal. Perched on the 8th floor of this gorgeous property, the restaurant offers a lively decor, and overlooks a pretty Japanese garden. Ko-No-Hana features a wide selection of set menus for lunch and dinner that may vary according to the season. Different kinds of seating arrangements are available on request such as opting Japanese-style private rooms perfect to host a business dinner. Each meal at Ko-No-Hana gives us a taste of Japan — primarily comprising of seafood, vegetables and ocean plants. We started our meal with a delicious seasonal soup — simmered snapper garnished with turnip followed by a selection of Sashimi. From the grilled Hassun (assorted seasonal appetisers), I chose shiitake mushroom topped with deep-fried shin jo and plenty of Mukago Japanese yam. For mains, I chose steamed lotus dumplings that come with thick gravy of buckwheat berries accompanied by Ananaga pepper, green onions and fresh wasabi. The meal was finished off with a delectable dessert and macha tea. Additionally, the restaurant is famous for its fine selection of Japanese sake.

VERDICT: Perfect for those looking for a wholesome, traditional Japanese meal.
