BACKGROUND Emirates has several  lounges across Concourses A, B and C. It has a separate lounge for business and first class passengers as well as eligible Emirates Skywards members and passengers of Qantas codeshare flights.

WHERE IS IT? After security check, past Duty Free, follow the signs to the Emirates Business Class Lounge in Terminal 3’s Concourse A. It spans over all Emirates departure gates within the concourse, thus allowing direct access to some boarding gates through the lounge.

WHO CAN ACCESS IT? Skywards members upwards of the Silver tier, and business and first class passengers. Blue tier members can pay US$105/₹7,221 to enter. All those eligible can pay US$105/₹7,221 for guest entry. Gold Skywards members are allowed one complimentary guest access and Platinum are allowed to take one adult and two child guests to the lounge at no extra cost.

WHAT’S IT LIKE? The space is divided into areas to relax, dine and work in. Buffets at both ends of the lounge have communal tables, as well as separate ones for privacy. It has a selection of bread including pita with hummus, international and Arabic hot and cold dishes, juices, sodas, hot drinks and alcoholic beverages (including Moët & Chandon champagne and fresh dates). The cigar lounge, which doubles as a bar has a selection of fine cigars. Outside these dining areas, there are plenty of sofas around coffee tables to relax or work in privacy by connecting to the free wifi. There is also a business centre equipped with computers. The reception can help with printing and scanning facilities. Empty work desks with charging points are a convenient option to catch up on emails from your laptop. Additionally, one could opt to lounge in the cordoned off areas with lazy chairs that come with blankets and pillows, and side tables fitted with plug points. Showers and a spa help freshen up before catching the flight. During the day the lounge is most crowded, which could lead to waiting your turn for the showers or a spa appointment.

The good thing about the lounge is that there are two of all facilities — one at each end — so you don’t need to walk around the entire space (could take about 35 to 40 minutes to complete a lap) to find what you need.

VERDICT Fantastic facilities to work and relax. The food could have been better in terms of taste. The wifi connection is impressively seamless.
