Note – this lounge is now closed.

Delta uses both Terminal 3 and Terminal 4 at London Heathrow, so your experience of arrivals will differ depending on which flight you’re on.

If landing at T4, your options include the Yotel at Terminal 4 (see news, June 2010), where you can have a shower (space permitting) and receive a breakfast box. Note there is a one-hour maximum of being there, so if you have a long wait before your London appointments, this probably isn’t the best option.

Alternately, if you have time, you can catch the Heathrow Connect service to Terminal 3 and use the new Delta Arrivals Lounge, which is is complimentary to all Business Elite passengers and to Sky Miles Diamond and Platinum Medallion members arriving from the US.

This is where I headed after my Philadelphia flight (click here to read a review of that).

The lounge is well sign-posted and after a short covered walk outside, you come to the door. Push a button to gain admittance.

Shower room

Once inside your credentials are checked and if they are in order, you are allowed in.

The lounge is quite small, but has several showers.

These are excellent — roomy, in bright red and white, and with Malin & Goetz amenities including shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. I asked for a razer and one was provided.

If you need clothes pressing, hang them in a cupboard in the door and then press a button and this is taken care of. A similar system operates in BA lounges.

Menu detailing the options for breakfast

To one side is the food area with a good selection of cold and hot food.

To the other side is a seating area. The lounge also has a business centre.

I spent about 15 minutes relaxing and eating after my shower. My coffee was served to me at the table while I read the morning papers, and I was offered some cooked items, but decided to fill up with cereal and yoghurt and fruit.

Then, I made my way in to London on the Piccadilly Line.

VERDICT

A really good arrivals lounge, similar to the Virgin facility in both feel and size, and with all you would need to freshen up after an overnight flight and before a day’s work.
