Background

InterContinental London Park Lane enjoys pride of place at the heart of the British capital’s upscale Mayfair neighbourhood. This hotel is a flagship property of InterContinental Hotels & Resorts and pegs itself as a luxury hotel targeting both business and leisure travellers. The hotel just announced its over-the-top Capital Suite at the top end of its offering.

What’s It Like

For starters, and a very relevant move, the Capital Suite is based on an intelligent design concept, where its different areas can be customised and separated based on guests’ requests. Spread across 335 sq m, the aptly named Capital Suite features large meeting/living spaces.

Room Facilities

I spent two days in the Capital Suite conducting meetings in the boardroom and the meeting/dining room, which I found to be so versatile. These spaces can easily be transformed from a workspace by day to a nice relaxation space by evening. There is a private lift and a separate entrance to the hotel, giving an increased sense of exclusivity and privacy. The private office and the boardroom can be connected, I am told, thus enabling me to virtually create an office in my own hotel room. In terms of decor and design, the Capital Suite is understated and elegant, with muted pastel tones, and elements of soft leather, walnut timber and stone, giving the overall space a very calming effect. The whole space is dotted with beautiful objets d’art and the recurring motif of London’s Hyde Park and its trees are generously used throughout the room.

During my stay here, I felt truly pampered with many little aspects — the complimentary shoe shine service is a nice touch. In addition, I quite enjoyed the luxurious robes and slippers, in addition to the Agraria bath products in my spacious bathroom. The turndown service revealed the beautiful rich bed linen and down pillows. As a guest of the Capital Suite, I also enjoyed the personal butler who was always at hand to attend to my needs, make restaurant reservations or even get me a cup of freshly brewed coffee with my newspaper in the morning.

Lounge Access

As a guest of the Capital Suite I did enjoy complementary access to Club InterContinental, the chic lounge on the 7th floor, reserved for club guests exclusively. The lounge is a great place to enjoy an afternoon tea, a quick snack or an evening sundowner after work.

Best For: The customisable layout
