Background

The Beaumont is an independently-managed, privately-owned five-star boutique hotel that opened in September 2014.

What’s it like?

As soon as I entered the lobby, a whiff of British opulence took over me in that intimate setting. Adding to this was the Art Deco-inspired interiors and old-world charm that struck a chord with the history buff in me.

Where is it?

Situated in the very centre of Mayfair, the hotel is within walking distance of Oxford, Bond and Mount Streets; Grosvenor Square; Berkeley Square and Hyde Park. Heathrow Airport is 35 to 55 minutes and Gatwick Airport is 55 to 90 minutes by road.

Rooms

I stayed in a beautiful Mayfair Suite that opens to picturesque views of Brown Hart Gardens. Subtle shades bedeck the suite, giving it a minimalistic and calming vibe. However, an unmissable sense of grandeur came from the silks, mohair velvets, bronze detailing and rich artworks that dot the suite. Special accommodation categories at The Beaumont go by the name of ROOM by Antony Gormley, a 69 sqm one-bedroom abode, which doubles as a public work of art; The Terrace Suite, a 91 sqm one-bedroom offering with a large private terrace and The Roosevelt Suite which can be extended to include five bedrooms (and has a huge terrace overlooking Mayfair).

Food and Drink

Their F&B line-up is impressive and highly sought after in London. There is The Colony Grill Room serving the best of steaks and grills that are New York-style. Complementing this is The Magritte Bar celebrating the tradition of American bars that became legendary in London and Paris during the 1920s. Guests staying at the property have exclusive access to The Cub Room, a relaxing lounge space to enjoy a cocktail, coffee and home-made viennoiseries.

Business

For small meetings and seminars, you have The Lotos Room which can also be used as a private dining area. Business lunches, wedding breakfasts and afternoon teas can be hosted at The Cub Room.

Leisure

Book an appointment at The Beaumont Spa and choose from a range of massage, facial and hammam treatments to relieve the post-work stress. Wellness enthusiasts like me can use the 24-hour fitness centre.

Verdict: Ideal for discerning business travellers who have a penchant for classic accommodation and well-curated F&B.
