BACKGROUND A privately owned luxury hotel, Hotel Nassauer Hof is a member of the Leading Hotels of the World and the Selektion Deutscher Luxushotels (selection of German luxury hotels). Its history dates back to 1813 when Johann Freinsheim, the innkeeper, opened it as Deutsche Haus. Since 2001, the hotel has belonged to a group of investors. The likes of Vladimir Putin and John F. Kennedy have stayed at this hotel.

WHAT’S IT LIKE? A heritage building houses this classic hotel. Its lobby feels very residential with warm lighting and comfortable seating. A grand piano is placed in one corner and ceiling high windows allow enough natural light to enter the lobby. Rooms and suites follow the same design sensibility of being inviting, classic and sophisticated.

WHERE IS IT? In the heart of the city and opposite to historic Kurhaus, Wiesbaden’s most important convention centre. A short walk away are a number of shopping malls, theatres and museums. Frankfurt airport is 30 minutes by car.

ROOM FACILITIES Rooms emanate the same homely and refined feel of the lobby. Its 159 rooms and suites are decorated in warm colours, dark wooden panelling and dim lights. Room categories begin at Superior Single room and continue as Superior Double room and Deluxe room. Suite types are Studio, Junior, Executive, Royal and Presidential.  I stayed in a Junior suite that is a lavish space that has a separate bedroom and a living room.

RESTAURANTS AND BARS I ate all my meals at Orangery, the hotel’s restaurant with a lovely view of the Kurhaus. I quite enjoyed the Irish beef fillet alongside some house red wine for dinner. Breakfast has a sumptuous spread of regional and international delicacies. Ente is a fine-dining and Michellin-starred restaurant serving German cuisine, Nassauer Hof Bar is known for its cigar collection and the Lobby Bar are ideal for formal meets over entrees and a drink or two.

MEETING FACILITIES Rooms and spaces that can cater to intimate dinners, seminars and lectures, conferences to banquets are available at the hotel.

LEISURE FACILITIES An indoor pool with thermal mineral water and a sun terrace and the 1,500 sqm Nassauer Hof Therme & Spa.

VERDICT With its prime location, superb amenities and heritage feel, this hotel is a great option for business trips to Frankfurt.
