What’s it like? As soon as I entered the lobby of the hotel, I was greeted by the polite and affable staff. The 87 individually designed guest rooms and suites feature natural materials, clean lines and warm tones. Hotel am Steinplatz also offers restaurant and bar dining options to whet your appetite and plenty of spots to comfortably unwind after a busy day. Amenities include a sleek spa with treatment rooms and a fitness centre.
Where is it? Hotel Am Steinplatz in Berlin, Germany is located an eight-minute walk from the Berlin Institute of Technology and an 11-minute walk from Zoo Berlin. It is three kilometres from Bellevue Palace, four kilometres from Charlottenburg Palace and five kilometres from Brandenburg Gate.
Rooms The interior design is a contemporary interpretation of the 1920s. I stayed in the deluxe room with a king bed. This room was 28 sqm and very relaxing to come back to, after a long and hectic day. It had a flat-screen TV, iPod dock, minibar, complimentary internet, tea, coffeemakers, and many more facilities to add to my comfort. Alternatively, guests can choose from a wide range of additional, well-furnished rooms and suites.
Food and Drink The hotel has a restaurant and bar for dining and beverages. One can soak in the cosmopolitan atmosphere of Berlin at Restaurant am Steinplatz where the culinary team puts their creative mark on every dish, with local and seasonal ingredients for a unique dining experience. I enjoyed a hearty breakfast at Restaurant am Steinplatz consisting of oatmeal porridge, a colourful platter of freshly cut fruits and fried eggs. I visited the retro Bar am Steinplatz in the evening and sipped on a glass of German Sekt or sparkling wine and paired it with delicious finger food, before retiring to my room.
Meetings The hotel has 90 sqm of meetings and event rooms which can be divided into two sections. The spaces have high-speed wifi, a state-of-the-art hybrid-meeting system and 83-inch flat-screen TVs
Leisure The spa and fitness centres offer scintillating city views. They have 2 dedicated saunas, 3 treatment rooms, a fitness room, a peloton bike and a heated wellness area where guests can relax or continue with their fitness regimes even while on a holiday.
Verdict With an eye for hospitality, Hotel am Steinplatz is ideal for a combination of work and relaxation, catering to the needs of leisure as well as business travellers.
