Background Hyatt Hotels Corporation announced the opening of Andaz Delhi in December 2016, marking the Andaz brand’s first hotel in India, and 16th worldwide.  Andaz Delhi offers more than 37,500 square feet of space, along with beautifully designed studios to elevate seminars, meetings, and coffee tête-à-têtes. The hotel also has plenty of lush outdoor greenery and tranquil wellness areas.

What’s it like? With state-of-the-art amenities that precisely meet the needs of leisure as well as business travellers, Andaz Delhi welcomes its guests to its convenient location close to business hubs and enjoyable spots like malls, cafes, and restaurants. The interiors exude a sense of comfort and warmth as they effortlessly blend modern amenities and traditional design.

Where is it? This contemporary hotel is close to the Indira Gandhi International Airport and is 11 kilometres from the famous 12th century old Qutub Minar tower,as well as 13 kilometres from the Garden of Five Senses. The U.S. Embassy and Consulate General, as well as India Gate, Lodhi Garden, DLF Promenade, and Ambience Mall, are all conveniently located near the hotel.

Rooms The warmly decorated rooms have wood floors, distinctive artwork, free Wi-Fi, and minibars. The hotel has Aerocity’s largest guest rooms. There are 401 original works of art inspired by Delhi strategically placed in each room. Views of the runway at Indira Gandhi International Airport are visible from the rooms. The hotel offers rooms and suites that have been tastefully designed with a combination of contemporary and traditional Indian influences. Guests can choose from the King Bed and Twin Bed rooms, along with runway views. I stayed in the 1 King Bed with Runway View and the size of the room was 36-41 sqm. The blackout drapes and featherbed with a cosy duvet made for a great night’s sleep. The lounge sofa and workstation were convenient amenities. The walk-in shower was equipped with locally inspired toiletries, as well as robes and bedroom slippers. An espresso machine was also available in my room.

Food and Drink The hotel adopts a creative strategy when dealing with restaurants and bars that prioritises using locally-sourced produce, and provides a variety of cuisines for guests to go on a gastronomical adventure. AnnaMaya is a modern artisanal produce-forward Food Hall, which has unique dishes like gulnar kofta, wok-tossed soft shelled crab, camembert cheese topped with balsamic vinegar, punchy arugula, and tomatoes. Soul Pantry focusses on sustainable ingredients that lend a freshness to its salads, pizzas, and freshly squeezed juices. India’s first gin bar, Juniper Bar showcases a selection of over 40 gin and tonic infusions. In the evening I visited the newly opened club lounge and had a glass of Merlot along with some cheesy chicken tikka.

Meetings The hotel is amply equipped with meeting and event spaces that provide state-of-the-art technology for the ultimate seamless meetings experience. Andaz Delhi offers more than 37,500 sq.ft. of event spaces for meetings and other events. The hotel boasts an oval pillarless ballroom, a courtyard for open-air events, and over 790 sqm of studio space for meetings.

Leisure Surrounded by lush landscaped gardens, guests can enjoy a swim or relax on comfortable lounge chairs on the sundeck. From the latest cardio equipment to free weights, the hotel’s fitness centre offers equipment for a total body workout to energise and recharge the spirit. Guests may also access the sauna and steam room. Andaz Spa offers an innovative apothecary approach, combining seasonal fruits, herbs, minerals, and essential oils with authentic therapies to relax the mind and soul.
