WHAT’S IT LIKE? A favourite with Japanese royalties and rock groups, including U2.

HOW MANY ROOMS? 452 guestrooms and suites (the Balcony Suite pictured), some of which are the city’s biggest.

ROOM FACILITIES: High-speed internet access, cable TV and large bathrooms.

RESTAURANTS: Katsura, the Japanese fine-dining restaurant, offers authentic fare that attracts high-profile guests like the country’s tourism minister. The Pacific Restaurant, known for its beef and lamb dishes, serves breakfast, lunch and a special dinner menu for theatre goers.
