United has announced that it will convert 100 of its current 737 MAX orders into 737 MAX 10s, to become the largest single 737 MAX 10 customer in the world.

Boeing released details of the B737 Max family at the Paris Air Show this week, announcing that it will aim to compete with the Airbus A321 neo.

The airline expects to begin taking delivery of the 737 MAX 10 into late 2020, and has ordered four additional 777-300ER aircraft to its total order of 18 777-300ERs, of which it began taking delivery last year.

The 777-300ERs have the airline’s all-new United Polaris business class, with “custom-designed, exclusive-to-United seats, an elevated dining experience, new custom bedding from Saks Fifth Avenue and amenity kits”.

The 737 MAX 10 incorporates CFM International LEAP-1B engines, “Advanced Technology” winglets, Boeing’s “Sky Interior”, which feels roomier and brighter, plus large flight deck displays.

United’s senior vice president of finance, procurement and treasurer, Gerry Laderman, said:

“The addition of this advanced aircraft to our fleet will enable us to continue to offer the state-of-the-art flying experience our customers expect when traveling with us”.

Boeing commercial airplanes president and CEO, Kevin McAllister, said:

“The 737 MAX 10 will provide even more flexibility to United’s route schedule and will bring to their operation the best economics of any airplane in the single-aisle segment. We’re proud that United’s 777-300ER fleet continues to grow.”.
