On May 24, India’s full-service airline, Vistara took delivery of its 14th aircraft and first A320neo at the Airbus headquarters in Toulouse. Up until then, the airline had an all-A320 fleet.

Delivery of the A320neo is the first of seven aircraft to be leased from BOC Aviation. With this, the airline can now look at expanding its network internationally.

Vistara’s new aircraft comes in a three-class configuration — eight seats in business class, 24 in premium economy and 126 seats in economy class. It features mood lighting, new seat bottom and seat back design, and softer cushions and seat leather across all cabins.

The airline’s brand colours: aubergine and gold dress the business and premium economy cabins; aubergine and grey in economy.

The business class has wider seat backs and enhanced literature pockets, in comparison to what’s available on the A320. The new premium economy cabin is fitted with “redesigned height 4-way adjustable headrest”. Padded head support is now available to economy class passengers.

Commenting on the product enhancements, Phee Teik Yeoh, CEO of Vistara says, “We have paid attention to the smallest of details; from the look and feel of our newly designed seats in fine leather upholstery and mood lighting, to the aroma of a cup of freshly brewed Starbucks coffee on-board, Vistara ensures delight at every touchpoint. The A320neo also ensures operational enhancement as well as cost leadership for us, with extra payload capacity, greater fuel efficiency, and improved range, perfectly aligning with our growth strategy.”

A press release by Airbus reads: “The A320neo Family incorporates the very latest technologies including new generation engines and Sharklets, which together deliver more than 15 per cent fuel and CO2 savings from day one and 20 per cent by 2020, as well as 50 percent noise reduction.”
