Mövenpick Hotels and Resorts will open a 210-key property in Sylhet, Bangladesh. The hotel opening in the third quarter of 2018 will be located close to Sylhet Osmani International Airport.

Leisure facilities at the hotel will include a rooftop infinity swimming pool, a spa, a fitness centre, a tennis court, a bowling alley and an adjacent shopping area sprawling across 1,170 sqm.

The hotel will feature a speciality bistro, an all-day dining restaurant and a lounge. It will also boast of a well-equipped business centre and large meeting rooms.

“This is the second Bangladesh property we have signed in the last 12 months and we look forward to establish ourselves as the first international hotel chain in Sylhet. Bangladesh has a rapidly developing economy with a rising, affluent middle class. This will be a key driver of our business as we look forward to offering corporate and leisure travellers to the city an internationally-branded, upscale hotel experience,” says Andrew Langdon, chief development officer and senior vice president Asia at Mövenpick Hotels and Resorts.

In October 2016, Switzerland-based hospitality company signed a property in Khulna, Bangladesh. It plans to focus on Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, China, Vietnam and Bangladesh for its expansion.
