Marriott International has opened a new hotel in Scotland’s capital city.

The Courtyard Edinburgh hotel is located at the east end of Princes Street, in the heart of the city’s new entertainment and shopping hub.

The hotel, which is comprised of three adjoining Georgian townhouses and a modern building connected by a glass walkway, has 240 rooms which incorporate Edinburgh’s history.

Located in what was once home to Robert Stevenson, the famed Scottish lighthouse engineer and grandfather of Treasure Island author Robert Louis Stevenson, every room contains homages to his work through pictures, drawings and maps. The rooms also include free wifi and satellite LCD TVs.

Other facilities include the Lantern restaurant and bar, serving locally sourced produce throughout the day, a fitness centre and 40 sqm of event space.

The flagship hotel cost £30m to restore and is the third Courtyard Marriott in Scotland, following the opening of the Courtyard Glasgow Airport in 2016 and the Courtyard Aberdeen Airport opened in 2013.
