Hilton Worldwide has announced plans to open a new Hilton Garden Inn at Doncaster Racecourse. The 154-room hotel will be built within the grounds of the horseracing venue and is set to open in 2018.

The hotel will be the first Hilton property in the town and offer views of the track’s final furlong and surrounding landscape.

Construction is set to start at the end of 2016 after Hilton Worldwide reached a franchise agreement with the Arena Racing Company, the largest racecourse operator in the UK.

Commenting on the opening Patrick Fitzgibbon, senior vice president, development, EMEA, Hilton, said: “Hilton has a strong legacy of sporting venue developments, with more than 10,000 rooms wither trading of under construction across four continents. With more than 280,00 people visiting Doncaster Racecourse in 2015, this hotel will provide prime mid-scale accommodation to domestic and international travellers alike.”

Also speaking of the opening Stephen Higgins, ARC’s racing and property director, said: “Doncaster Racecourse is steeped in heritage and plays and important role in the local community. We are delighted to be working with Doncaster Council and Hilton on this exciting project with marks a new era for the racecourse.”
