Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport will start the scheduled repair and restoration work on its primary runway today from noon until 4pm. It will continue this work schedule tomorrow and on October 22, 23, 25, 26, 29 and 30. During this period, flights will be routed to the secondary runway.

From October 31 to November 28, the airport will suspend flight operations from 12pm to 5pm on every Monday and Thursday, as both runways will be under upgradation process. From 5pm to noon the next day, flights will operate as usual.

Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) says that airlines have been informed in advance about this change in schedule.

A statement by a Jet Airways spokesperson reads: In light of the forthcoming closure of the Mumbai Airport runway with effect from October 18 until end-November, Jet Airways has revised its flight schedules for some of its flights arriving into/departing from Mumbai. Our contact centre is taking proactive steps to keep guests updated of revised timings and re-accommodation on alternate flights where necessary, via SMS or phone calls. However, guests are also advised to check the revised schedules and updates on our website or reach out to their travel agents/Jet Airways contact centre, for information on their flights for this period.

IndiGo made a statement too: This is to notify all passengers flying to and fro Mumbai that between Oct 31st to November 30th on Mondays and Thursdays from 1200 to 1700 hours both runways at Mumbai airport will not be available for landing and take-off  due to runway maintenance work. Hence, flight’s schedules to and from Mumbai will be affected (on Mondays and Thursdays) in this period. All passengers are requested to check their respective flight status on line or social media channels while traveling during this period. tweet @IndiGo6E and facebook.com/goindigo.in
