Mövenpick Hotels and Resorts signs third hotel in Bangladesh. The city of Khulna will receive a Mövenpick Hotel, with properties in Cox Bazaar and Dhaka already underway.

To be located near the national cricket stadium of Sheikh Abu Nase and the UNESCO World Heritage site of Sudarbans, the 240-room property will open in 2019. It will feature two speciality restaurants, an all-day diner, a coffee shop, lobby bar and a rooftop restaurant and bar

It will boast of sprawling meeting spaces, with a convention centre, four meeting rooms and a Grand Ballroom with pre-function area.

The hotel will also feature a spa, sauna, salon, infinity swimming pool, Jacuzzi, steam bath, gym and health club and three retail outlets.

“We are very pleased to sign our third property in the country and establish ourselves as the first international hotel chain in Khulna in partnership with the property’s owners, Ahyan Hotel and Resorts. We believe in Bangladesh and its future. It is rapidly developing economically, with a rising and affluent middle class. This will be a key driver of our business as we look forward to offering corporate and leisure travellers to Khulna an internationally-branded, upscale hotel experience,” says Andrew Langdon, senior vice president Asia at Mövenpick Hotels and Resorts.

Mövenpick Hotels and Resorts will focus on Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, China, Vietnam and Bangladesh for its expansion. It plans to manage 30 hotels by 2020 across South Asia and Southeast Asia.
