Repair work at Bandaranaiyike International Airport (BIA) in Sri Lanka’s capital city, Colombo means part closure of the facility from 8:30am to 5:30pm from January 2017. SriLankan Airlines says, this will interfere with its flight schedules.

SriLankan Airlines will cancel six day services from Colombo to Chennai, Trichy, Kochi, Bengaluru, Male, and Singapore, and will operate them at nights in stead. It will also reschedule flights from Colombo to Beijing, Bangkok, Jeddah, Karachi, Kuala Lumpur, London, New Delhi, Shanghai, and Trivandrum.

Repair works are said to continue until March 2017.

A notice issued by SriLankan Airlines said: “The closure of BIA affects flights of all airlines that operate to BIA during the scheduled time of maintenance work. The airline is not the operator of the airport and has no control over scheduled maintenance work.”

On getting in touch with SriLankan Airlines’ contact centre for the new schedule from January-March 2017, Business Traveller India was informed that it will be available online in September.
