German group Maritim Hotels is to open two new-build properties in China next year, in the eastern cities of Hangzhou and Hefei.

Maritim Hotel Hangzhou will open in December 2017, and will feature 300 rooms, three restaurants, a swimming pool, spa and fitness centre, and “vast conference and event facilities”.

Meanwhile Maritim Hotel Hefei is slated to open in July 2017, and will offer 335 rooms, two restaurants, a German bar, a health and wellbeing centre, and “a collection of boardrooms, meeting rooms and conference facilities”.

The group said that “With trade groups accounting for a large majority of the bookings, followed by leisure travellers, China is the third biggest source market for Maritim Hotels, particularly since the recent relaxation on rules regarding visas”.

Maritim already operates three hotels in China: Maritim Hotel Shenyang, Maritim Hotel Changzhou and Maritim Hotel Wuhu.

The group’s portfolio includes 34 German properties, and 14 global hotels in locations including Mauritius, Mallorca, Turkey, Egypt, Malta and China.
