Business class flights are on average 20 per cent cheaper than they were five years ago according to data from Flight Centre UK.
The flight specialist has taking a sample of promotional fares available in coming weeks and compared it with fares available in 2011. On average, flights are 20 per cent less expensive, and in some cases 50 per cent less expensive than five years ago. These fares include:
- Dubai from just £999 (£2,081 May 2011),
- Singapore from £1,414 (£2,948 May 2011)
- New York from £1,496 (£2,545 May 2011)
- Sydney from £1,999 (£3,607 May 2011)
- Los Angeles from £2,189 (£3,437 May 2011)
Flight Centre points out that a number of industry variables have resulted in the reduced flight prices including larger aircraft, new routes and increased flight frequency, all adding to the number of long-haul seats available. In addition to this, fuel prices are also at a generational low.
Flight Centre also says that May and June have “traditionally have highly competitive fares and this year the upcoming EU referendum and Euro 2016 are thought to have increased the competition between airlines”.
