Marriott opens in Macedonia

11 May 2016

Marriott Hotels and Resorts has opened the Skopje Marriott, the brand’s first hotel in Macedonia.

The 164-room hotel is located in Skopje’s central business district overlooking the Vardar River, close to attractions such as the Stone Bridge, Mustafa Pasha Mosque and the Warrior on a Horse statue of Alexander the Great.

Features include the hotel’s signature Greatroom lobby, a lounge area open for guests to work in and socialise and seven event spaces, the largest of which can accommodate 400. An open-plan multifunctional space is also available for workshops and meetings.

The hotel’s restaurant, Distrikt Bar + Kitchen, offers Eastern European dishes with Mediterranean influences, where market fresh fish and an aged-steak selection are features on the menu.

There is also a fitness centre, indoor pool and spa with June Jacobs products used in treatments.

Launched in 2015, Marriott’s meetings platform Meetings Imagined is also available to planners. The online service keeps them in touch with guest managers around the clock in the lead-up to an event.

Under the same brand, Bonn Marriott World Conference Hotel is set to open on May 30 with the Voronezh Marriott due in December 2016.
