Accorhotels has opened a new 400-room property in Kunming, Yunnan province, under its luxury Sofitel brand.
Sofitel Kunming is located in the new business district and occupies the 27th to 52nd floors of a high-rise tower, making it the highest hotel in the city.
The luxury hotel is likely to attract MICE travellers, being located close to the Kunming International Convention & Exhibition Centre and New Kunming Dianchi International Convention & Exhibition Centre. It is also a 35-minute drive from Kunming Changshui International Airport.

The interior décor of the guestrooms features a peacock design, a symbol of Yunnan’s Dai ethnic minority. All rooms boast amenities such as a wireless audio system, free wifi and the brand’s signature Sofitel MyBed.
There are three F&B options: the hotel’s all-day dining restaurant Kwee Zeen, located on the 49th floor and offering 360-degree panoramic views of the city; the Parisian Voyage Bar on the 50th floor that serves signature cocktails and wine; and Le Chinois restaurant, which specialises in Yunnanese and Cantonese cuisine.

Recreational facilities include Sofitel’s signature So Spa, which offers treatments combining ancient wellness techniques with modern French cosmetology. There is also a fitness centre and heated indoor pool.
Sofitel Kunming is also home to a number of event spaces, including a pillarless ballroom and eight meeting rooms – a total space of 2,100 sqm.
To commemorate the opening, the hotel is offering a deal starting at RMB899 (US$138) nett for a one-night stay in a Superior room. The promotion is valid until June 30.
