Hong Kong PolyU hosts 2nd Global Tourism & Hospitality Conference

On May 16-18, 2016, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) will host HONG KONG 2016: 2nd Global Tourism & Hospitality Conference (GTHC) and 15th Asia Pacific Forum (APF) for Graduate Students Research in Tourism.

The three-day event will be based around the theme “Innovation, Research, Education”, and will be held at Hotel Icon in Hong Kong’s Tsim Sha Tsui East district. It will provide a networking platform for educators, thought leaders, students and industry professionals to exchange insights related to innovations and trends in the global hospitality and tourism industry, as well as the opportunities and challenges that the industry is currently facing.

Topics covered at the keynote and panel sessions will include: 

  • Developing trends in the global travel and tourism industry: Challenges and issues
  • New modes of collaboration in international education
  • Current issues and trends in tourism and hospitality research

Many prominent international and local scholars and experts will participate as speakers at the conference.

“In the face of rapid growth and fast-changing development in the global hospitality and tourism industry, it is becoming increasingly important for all the stakeholders to come together to develop strategies that support the industry and enable sustainable growth,” said Professor Kaye Chon, conference chairman and dean and chair professor of the PolyU’s School of Hotel and Tourism Management (SHTM), which is organising the event.

“The SHTM is very proud to support the collaboration between industry and academia for the advancement of global hospitality and tourism,” Chon added.
