Virgin America partners with Starwood SPG

15 Apr 2016 by BusinessTraveller

Virgin America has launched a new partnership with Starwood’s SPG loyalty programme, allowing Elevate members to earn points on stays with the hotel group.

Elevate members can now earn two points for every US Dollar spent on Starwood stays, and SPG members can opt to convert their Starpoints into Elevate points at a 1:1 ratio.

SPG Preferred members must convert a minimum of 2,500 Starpoints, while the minimum conversion for Gold members is 1,500 Starpoints, and there is no minimum transfer requirement for Elite members.

Members can transfer up to 79,000 Starpoints in one transaction, and for every 20,000 points transferred, a bonus of 5,000 points will be added to the transfer.

Alaska Airlines recently announced plans to buy Virgin America, and if successful the carrier plans to merge the Elevate programme into its Mileage Plan scheme (see news April 4).
