Storms cause delays to UK travel

There are widespread delays across the UK's airports as a result of high winds this Easter Monday.

A number of flights were diveerted at Gatwick last night and this morning, and the airport is warning that there are also delays to transport to and from the airport.

"Due to adverse weather, we are experiencing some disruption to flights and on roads around Gatwick. Please check with your airline for the latest information and leave extra time to travel to the airport."

Gatwick delays

Heathrow is also suffering delays. The airport's website warns, "Due to strong winds caused by Storm Katie, there are delays and some cancellations to flights today. Please check your flight status with your airline before coming to the airport."

Some flights have been diverted from the airport due to high winds.

The Heathrow Express also suffered an alarm activiation causing further delays this morning.
