Air India plans to add new aircraft to its Boeing wide-body fleet, so it can fly to new destinations internationally.

The airline says it will finalise this plan by the next fiscal year.

Currently Air India has 40 wide-body or twin-aisle aircraft in its fleet.

”We have not added too many wide-body planes in the fleet in the last couple of years, except the induction of Dreamliners from the 2005 order.

“We are now considering expanding this fleet as well by adding some long range Boeing aircraft going forward,” says an airline official.

The new routes being considered by Air India are Washington DC and Houston along with other cities in the United States of America, Sweden and Africa.
