The opening of the new Exclusive Skyteam Lounge at Dubai International this month will be followed by two more openings, Chief Executive Officer of Skyteam Airline Alliance Management, Perry Cantarutti has confirmed.

“We are opening a fifth one in Dubai in the next couple of weeks in the new International Concourse D. We have two more in the development pipeline, one at the end of 2016 and one at the end of 2017.”

“We are focused on offering them at airports where we don’t have a home carrier that’s part of the Skyteam and where any carrier by itself may not have the volume to justify investing in a top quality lounge itself. Today we have Skyteam Exclusive Lounges in Sydney, Hong Kong, London and Istanbul.”

(For details of those lounges, see Hong KongSydneyIstanbul and London)

The new lounge at Dubai follows on from new lounges for Lufthansa (see news, March 2016) and British Airways (see news, March 2016)

Cantarutti declined to say where the two new lounges would be, though one of them is expected to be Beijing, particularly since Cantarutti admitted that

“While Skyteam has no home carrier at Beijing, Skyteam members China Eastern and China Southern “are very significant and we do a fair amount of connecting there”

“We think it’s a great opportunity to provide a better customer efficiency and better business efficiency for our airline members. The reaction from our customers and our member airlines have been very positive.”
