United to operate flights between San Francisco and Hangzhou

10 Mar 2016 by Clement Huang

United Airlines will introduce a three-times weekly service between its hub in San Francisco and Hangzhou from July 15. Bookings will be made available at a later date.

Flight UA982 will depart San Francisco at 1415 every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, arriving in Hangzhou at 1810 the following day. The return service on flight UA983 will take off from Hangzhou at 1130 and touch back down in San Francisco at 0825 the same day. Flight times will be 11 hours, 55 minutes eastbound and 12 hours, 55 minutes westbound.

Subject to government approval, the US carrier will deploy its new B787-9 on the service, with Hangzhou becoming the fifth city in mainland China it serves.

Business First on the B787-9

The Dreamliner offers a total of 252 seats across two class – 48 in Business First and 204 in economy – of which 88 are designated as Economy Plus seats with added legroom and increased personal space.

“We look forward to adding Hangzhou to our China-US flight network using the customer-favourite B787-9 Dreamliner,” said Jim Compton, United’s vice chairman and chief revenue officer.

“With approval, we will offer our customers unique non-stop flights between one of China’s fastest-growing travel markets and the US West Coast, with fast and easy connections via our San Francisco hub to destinations throughout the Americas.”
