Marriott has announced the latest property for its luxury lifestyle joint-venture brand with Ian Schrager.
The Barcelona Edition is scheduled to open in 2017, and will be housed within a converted office building in the Citutat Vella (literally “Old City”) district of the Catalan capital.
The 100-room will be located next to the city’s Santa Caterina market (see map below), and will feature three restaurants, a club and rooftop bar, and an “activated lobby space”.
The brand currently has four open properties within its portfolio – London, Istanbul, Miami Beach and New York – with a fifth due to open in Sanya this year, and future properties including Bangkok, Shanghai and Abu Dhabi (2017), and New York Times Square, West Hollywood, Reykjavik and Bali (2018).
Marriott also recently announced the brand’s first Dubai property, scheduled to open in 2019 (see news September 2015 – the original article suggested the hotel would open in 2018, but this has now been pushed back).
