Carlson Rezidor aims to open 170 properties in India’s tier-II and tier-III cities by 2020.

“Our target of 170 hotels by 2020 is well on track. We have 45 hotels in the pipeline across the country. This year, the momentum is strong and we are expecting to open eight hotels. We are also looking to sign 14 properties. Most of these are in tier-II and -III cities,” says Raj Rana, CEO, South Asia, Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group.

Recent openings for the hospitality group’s The Country Inns and Suites brands include Country Inns & Suites By Carlson Manipal and Country Inn & Suites By Carlson, Bengaluru Hebbal Road.

In East India, Carlson Rezidor already has a Radisson Blu in Guwahati and has signed another in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tawang. It is also considering Manipur and Meghalaya, as well as properties in Nepal.

During this expansion phase, Carlson Rezidor also hopes to launch its luxury brand Quorvus Collection in India. Rana says, “It will be only for select destinations for very high end properties or palace hotels.”

The existing Carlson Rezidor brands in India are Radisson, Radisson Blu, Country Inns and Suites, and Park Plaza.
