Norwegian has taken delivery of its first B787-9 aircraft, the stretched version of the Boeing Dreamliner.
The aircraft will be launched on the low-cost carrier’s Oslo-Orlando route, and will also operate on routes to and from London Gatwick, where Norwegian is now the third largest airline.
The carrier’s B787-9 is configured for a total of 344 seats – 309 in economy and 35 in premium class. This compares to Norwegian’s existing fleet of eight B787-8 aircraft, with are configured for 291 seats – 259 in economy and 32 in premium class.
The carrier’s first B787-9 features Swedish actress Greta Garbo on its tailfin.
Norwegian has a total of 30 B787-9 aircraft on order, which it says it will use to launch new routes across North America, South America and South East Asia.
