Singapore Airlines will take delivery of its first Airbus A350 on March 2.
Following a delivery ceremony, which will be held at the Airbus facility in Toulouse, the A350 will take off for Singapore, arriving in Changi Airport the following day.
Singapore Airlines has a total of 67 A350s on order, of which seven are the ultra-long-range variant that the airline intends to use on its non-stop flights to the US.
The new aircraft features a three-class configuration, with 42 seats in business, 24 in premium economy and 187 in economy. Regular scheduled service will see the A350 deployed on the Singapore–Amsterdam route in June, followed by flights to Dusseldorf in July.
However, passengers eager to fly on the new aircraft in the months leading up to the Amsterdam launch can do so as the A350 will be operating several daily short-haul flights to Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta as part of the crew familiarisation phase.
Business Traveller Asia-Pacific will be travelling on the A350 delivery flight from Toulouse to Singapore. Stay tuned for our full report.
