PAL confirms order for six A350-900s

18 Feb 2016 by Clement Huang

Philippine Airlines (PAL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with aircraft manufacturer Airbus for six A350-900s, with the option for a further six.

According to PAL, the A350 will be deployed on the airline’s non-stop flights between Manila and the US west coast, New York and new destinations in Europe. The aircraft will be outfitted in a three-class configuration.

“After a thorough commercial and technical evaluation, the A350 came out on top in meeting our demanding requirements,” said Jaime Bautista, president and chief operating officer of PAL. “The A350’s range capabilities has been an important factor in our decision, enabling us to offer non-stop service on all our premium long-haul routes.”

The A350 has become one of the most successful widebody aircraft ever, with Airbus having recorded 777 firm orders from 41 customers worldwide. Featuring a carbon-fibre fuselage and highly efficient Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines, the A350 boasts a 25 per cent reduction in fuel burn and emissions, making it an attractive choice for aircraft operators.
