Grand Hyatt hotel planned for San Francisco International Airport

18 Feb 2016 by Clement Huang

Hyatt Hotels has signed a management contract with San Francisco International Airport (SFO) to manage a Grand Hyatt hotel.

The 350-room Grand Hyatt San Francisco International Airport is expected to open in mid-2019 and will help to service the increasing passenger traffic through SFO, which recently recorded a new all-time high of 50 million passengers in 2015.

Located within the airport grounds, the new hotel will sit on a 1.9-hectare (4.7-acre) site close to the terminal buildings with direct accessibility via Air Train.

Hornberger + Worstell Architects will collaborate with both SFO and Hyatt’s design team to spearhead the interior look and feel of the property.

Along with 350 guestrooms, Grand Hyatt San Francisco International Airport will offer 1,625 sqm of flexible meeting space, a 24/7 business centre, health club and spa, indoor heated pool, whirlpool and sauna. Additionally, the F&B offerings will consist of both full-service and casual restaurants, wine and sushi bars, and a rooftop cocktail lounge.

“Realising a brand-new hotel at our world-class airport has long been part of SFO’s Capital Plan, and I am pleased with this new relationship with Hyatt,” said San Francisco mayor Ed Lee. “The construction and operation of Grand Hyatt San Francisco International Airport is a major economic win for the entire San Francisco Bay Area region, creating jobs, revenue, and an even better world-class experience for travellers at SFO.”
