Choice Hotels International has revamped its Choice Privileges rewards programme, which has over 25 million members worldwide.

Among the changes include:

  • Bonus rewards for members completing a qualifying stay which includes a weekday night (Sunday to Thursday). International (ie: non US) members can choose from 500 bonus Choice Privilege points or 100 airline miles, while US members can also opt for fuel savings at Shell, amazon.com credit, or a $5 “coffee card”.
  • The scheme now offers up 1,500 hotels with discounted points redemption requirements, which vary by season and allow members to redeem free nights faster
  • Points no longer expire, providing members “stay active” every 18 months – eligible activity includes redeeming, earning or purchasing points, and referring friends to the scheme (they must then complete a stay for this to count)
  • All 5,500 participating Choice Hotels now earn 10 points per dollar spent, including those under the group’s economy and extended stay brands such as MainStay Suites, Suburban, EconoLodge and Rodeway Inn

More information can be found on the Choice Hotels website here, and the video below also explains the changes.

Choice Hotels recently debuted its Ascend brand in the UK, with the addition of Edinburgh’s Channings Hotel and The Howard (see news January 25).
