Passengers travelling with United on its San Francisco (SFO) – London Heathrow (LHR) route in April and May will be able to enjoy the perks of flying on its brand new B787-9 aircraft.
The twice-daily service between SFO and LHR is currently operated by the B747-400 and the B777-200 aircraft. However, according to airlineroute.net, the Dreamliner will temporarily replace the B747 on flights between April 5 and May 24.
The change in operating aircraft may be due to lower demand during the April–May period. Unlike the B747-400, which offers 374 seats in a three-class configuration (12 in first, 52 in business and 310 in economy), the B787-9 only has 252 seats in a two-class configuration, with 48 seats in business and 204 in economy.
Service times will remain consistent, with flight UA901 departing San Francisco at 1245 and arriving in London at 0710 the following day. The return service on flight UA900 will then take off from London at 1025 and touch back down in the US at 1335.
