Radisson Red is to open a 160-room new-build hotel in Guangzhou, located in the Panyu district close to the city’s South Railway Station.
Scheduled to open in 2018, the Radisson Red Guangzhou South Station will form part of the mixed use Union Plaza, and will feature a “sky lobby” and infinity pool.
It’s the 10th signed property for Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group’s lifestyle brand, with the group aiming to open 60 properties worldwide by 2020.
The brand will debut with the Radisson Red Hotel, Brussels in April, and recently announced plans for a 176-room new-build property in Glasgow (see news September 7, 2015).

Carlson Rezidor says that the Radisson Red brand “is enhanced by art, music and fashion”, and “leverages local art and multi-functional design solutions to flow between spaces, breaking down the walls traditional hotels use to separate areas such as lobby, restaurants, bars and meeting spaces”.
In what seems to be becoming a growing trend (see the new-generation Holiday Inn Express design here), the brand has also replaced the conventional in-room desk with a “signature picnic table”.
