Langham signs deal for new property in Qatar

12 Jan 2016 by Jeremy Tredinnick

At a ceremony held on January 11, 2016, Langham Hospitality Group (LHG) and Qatar-based Real Estate Services Group (RSG) signed a formal agreement to co-develop the Langham Place, Lusail, Doha hotel, which is scheduled for completion in 2018.

The new-build luxury property will be the third Langham hotel in the Middle East (the other two being The Langham, Palm Jumeirah, Dubai and Langham Place, Downtown Dubai, slated to open in 2017 and 2018 respectively).

Located in the newly planned city of Lusail, which will be 23km north of Doha but connected by excellent road and other transport links, the hotel will comprise 238 rooms, 90 luxury serviced residences and 56 residence units, all part of the same development on the new marina waterfront and offering excellent sea views.

RSG, a Qatari company that has garnered a strong reputation for building luxury real estate, sees great potential in its partnership with LHG. Ali Tamour, RSG’s chief executive officer, said, “We are delighted to partner with LHG to bring something new and exciting to the Qatari hospitality market. The design of Langham Place in Lusail City will embrace a contemporary arts theme which is very much in keeping with the luxury hotel brand.”

The hotel will stand in close proximity to Lusail Iconic Stadium – the scene of the opening and final matches of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. This, together with Qatar’s strong economy and growing influx of trade, is part of the reason for LHG’s commitment to the country.

“With all the great infrastructure and world-class events happening in Qatar, we are very fortunate to enhance our presence in the Middle East during these exciting times,” said Robert Warman, CEO of Langham Hospitality Group.

The Langham Group’s move into the Middle East will give it a foothold in this very important business region, complementing its already established presence in major business cities such as London, New York, Chicago, Sydney, Hong Kong and Shanghai.
