Dubai International airport recorded an 8.1 per cent increase in traffic numbers in November 2015 compared with the previous year.
Just over six million passengers (6,013,911) travelled through the airport during the month, up from 5,565,509 in November 2014.
The figures also pushed Dubai International closer to the 80 million annual passenger mark, with 70,961,598 having passed through the airport up to the end of November – up 10.9 per cent on the previous year.
Dubai International surpassed London’s Heathrow airport as the world’s busiest airport for international traffic in 2014.
It is currently the third busiest airport for all passenger traffic, behind Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International and Beijing Capital International.
The airport's new Concourse D is expected to open early this year, and will feature a British Airways first-class Concorde Bar (see news September 1, 2015).
