Sofitel, the luxury hotel brand of Accorhotels, has extended its China presence to Kunming, the capital of Yunnan province in China's southwest.
The 400-room Sofitel Kunming is the only international luxury hotel in Kunming – a city that serves as a gateway to destinations in Yunnan including Dali, Lijiang, Shangri-La and Xishuangbanna.
The Lobby
Located in the central business district, Sofitel Kunming occupies the 27th-52nd floors of a tower and blends the brand’s French elegance with elements of Yunnan’s colourful ethnic culture.
The 400 guestrooms, which include 42 suites, come with wireless audio systems, large-screen TVs and wifi access. The room interiors feature designs inspired by the peacock, which symbolises Yunnan’s Dai minority.
Imperial Suite
Sofitel Kunming is home to three restaurants and two bars: Le Chinois Chinese Restaurant serves Yunnan, Cantonese and Sichuan fare; the all-day dining outlet Kwee Zeen offers 360-degree views of the city skyline, whilst showcasing a selection of Chinese, international and French favourites with live cooking stations; and Lan Pan Asian Restaurant delivers authentic Southeast Asian cuisine, as well as a Japanese robatayaki grill.
Voyage Bar on the 50th floor is a hip Parisian-style lounge, while guests can enjoy coffee and cocktails in the Lobby Bar.

For events, there is a grand ballroom accommodating up to 800 guests, and eight meeting rooms. An outdoor garden and rooftop venue on the 52nd floor can be used for cocktail events, fashion shows and outdoor weddings.
Recreational facilities include the So Spa offering treatments using L'Occitane skincare products; the So FIT gym; and an indoor heated pool.
