Onyx develops two new properties in China

3 Dec 2015 by Clement Huang

Onyx Hospitality Group has announced two new additions to the China market.

First on the list is the 110-unit Shama Daqing Heilongjiang, which is scheduled to open for business in late 2016.

Located in the central business district of Daqing, the second largest city in Heilongjiang province, the serviced apartments will include a kitchen, lounge area, fitness centre and business centre.

Meanwhile, Amari Yangshou Guilin is scheduled to open in 2017 and will be situated next to the popular West Street – one of the most historical streets in downtown Yangshou.

The 75-room boutique hotel will be part of a mixed-used development close to the area’s scenic attractions that include karst peaks, rivers, caves and temples. The hotel will feature a Thai restaurant as well as the brand’s signature Breeze Spa.

“These two new properties are part of our growing portfolio of 59 properties in operation including 20 under development,” said Peter Henley, president and chief executive of Onyx.

“We continue to expand our footprint beyond our Thai roots across the Asia-Pacific region and have a strategic goal of managing 81 hotels, resorts and serviced apartments by 2018, These two new deals will bring Onyx one step closer to being a leading hospitality provider in Asia."

In China, this brings the group's portfolio up to nine properties under development, including recent additions of Amari Yangshou Guilin and Shama Daqing Heilongjiang.
