Easyjet begins Glasgow-Milan service

Easyjet launched a new year-round service between Glasgow and Milan Malpensa today.

The low-cost carrier will operate the route twice-weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

On Wednesdays, EZY2687 leaves Milan at 0745 and lands in Glasgow at 0920. Return leg EZY2688 departs Glasgow at 0950 and arrives in Milan at 1320.

On Saturdays, EZY2689 leaves Milan at 1545 and lands in Glasgow at 1720. EZY2690 departs Glasgow at 1650 and arrives in Milan at 2020.

Easyjet expects to carry 26,000 passengers annually on the route, it said.

Ali Gayward, Easyjet's head of Scotland, said: "As Scotland's largest airline we are pleased to further strengthen our network with the launch of this new route to Milan Malpensa."

Paul White, Glasgow airport's business development manager, added: "Milan and Glasgow have many things in common – as well as being economic powerhouses the two cities enjoy a fantastic reputation for being fashion capitals."

Easyjet already flies to Milan Malpensa from Edinburgh, London Gatwick and London Luton.

On Mondays, Easyjet became the first airline to offer real-time aircraft tracking to its mobile app (see news, November 30).
