Rosewood Hotels and Resorts will open a small tent and villa encampment in Laos in 2017.
The riverfront property will have just 22 'accommodations' and will be located a short drive from the historic city of Luang Prabang, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Arrival manor
Facilities include open-air showers, bathtubs, and outdoor living areas to take advantage of the natural surroundings.
Five 100 sqm tents will have wrap-around decks and private dining areas, while six of the 17 villas come with their own private pool. Design will draw on Lao tradition and French colonial style.
An arrival manor will have a bistro serving French and Laotian cuisine as well as a bar and Rosewood's Sense Spa with three treatment rooms. The hotel will include a hospitality school where local students will be provided with professional hospitality training, in an effort to give back to the community.
Guest villa
The upcoming hotel is the latest in a series of announcements by Rosewood, which plans to have 50 hotels by 2020.
Rosewood Edinburgh will open in the former Royal High School in 2018 (see news, September 2015), while Rosewood Sao Paulo will arrive the same year in Cidade Matarazzo, an early 20th century landmark building that was once a maternity hospital (see news, July 2015).
